The Final Mix EP 1

I see The Final Mix as a platform for people to learn with me.

For years I’ve wondered why such an integral part of the music making process somehow slips under the radar. Every song any of us have ever enjoyed is because of a team of people much larger than the faces of those performing and it doesn’t sit right with me that we don’t always get to hear from or even see these talented individuals. Down from the artist themselves to the producers and engineers, we should all know by now that it takes a village and none of what we love in this scene can be done alone.

One thing I have learned over the last few years in this industry, is really how small it is, not just London, but the crossover into the America’s and Africa also. Sometimes these teams stay local, sometimes they are global, but everyone knows a guy who knows a guy and it all ties in together seamlessly which is really what I am trying to unpack in this series through discussing step-by-step processes, how these individuals found their feet in the industry and maintained the artistic relationships that have created our modern anthems.

I want to highlight the fact the industry is not as cutthroat as you hear people say and show the greatness that comes out of collaboration. I can’t stress enough that the negative PR behind this industry is nonsense, especially as I am learning more every week I stay part of this ever-changing space, so the essence of The Final Mix is for others to learn with me whilst I figure out what this process is truly made up of. Because I’d be lying if I said I was an expert.

You’ll be surprised with yourself when you see how many people will greet you with open arms when you try and seek knowledge, so without further ado, watch me try and figure out the backend of this industry with Morella.
