Mimi's Thank You Is the Show Music Culture's Been Waiting For

Mimi Music Blogger

Mimi started with Music With M, a WordPress blog born from a genuine love for music and a dedication to telling stories that matter. Her passion and clear voice have propelled her from writing alone in London to connecting with some of today’s biggest names: SZA, Little Simz, Naomi Campbell, Will Smith. These conversations happen because Mimi creates a space that is honest, respectful, and meaningful.

Her YouTube series, Thank You, builds on that foundation. It is a tribute to Black women shaping culture with strength and grace, often without the recognition they deserve. The show celebrates legacy, resilience, and the ongoing work of staying visible in an ever-changing industry. Thank You is about redefining what recognition looks like. Giving credit where it’s long overdue.

The series evolved from Mimi’s viral TikTok project Thank You and her powerful Clash Magazine article that highlighted Black women influencing media culture behind the scenes. The YouTube show channels that same energy with intimacy and deep respect for its subjects.

In the first episode, Mimi sits down with Ciara for a conversation that is focused, warm, and grounded in the music itself. Mimi’s thoughtful questions invite Ciara to reflect on her journey and share stories rarely heard. This isn’t surface-level celebrity talk. It’s an authentic dialogue.

A highlight is the Cuts Over Charts segment, where Mimi shares her favourite deep cuts from Ciara’s catalogue. It’s like two friends exchanging playlists, but with the depth and insight that only come from true appreciation. Ciara opens up with a rare vulnerability, a sign of the trust Mimi builds through her genuine curiosity and attentive presence.

Viewers responded to the episode as a refreshing change - a space where the art takes centre stage, and artists feel safe and respected. Mimi listens carefully and leads conversations with intention, creating interviews that are insightful and relatable.

Thank You is more than a show; it’s a shift in music media. It prioritises authenticity, celebrates unseen contributions, and reminds us why meaningful conversation still matters.

Episode two can’t come soon enough.
