Last Night with Conway the Machine at Brix

Man in blue jersey with gold chains sits on a golden couch, framed photos on wall behind. Luxurious setting, confident expression.

Morella were invited down to Conway the Machine’s exclusive listening party in Brixton the other night and let’s just say, the room was heavy with bars and basslines. Held at Venue Brix, the night brought out fans, media, and some of the UK’s sharpest ears, all tuned in to hear Slant Face Killah in full.

The project follows a run of respected releases including From King to a GOD, God Don’t Make Mistakes, and Won’t He Do It. This one is his first since Slant Face Killah dropped earlier this year, and he’s still very much in album mode.

For those unfamiliar, Conway is a rapper and songwriter from Buffalo, New York, and one of the founding members of Griselda Records the collective he built with Westside Gunn and Benny the Butcher. In 2012, he survived a shooting that left him with partial facial paralysis. Instead of stepping back, he pushed forward, turning the injury into a signature part of his sound. His music blends classic boom-bap with raw, detailed lyricism never rushed, always deliberate.
