Kofi Stone returns with new single, ‘No Way’
Kofi Stone's grandfather was a poet. That detail in the press material shared with us like it was just background information, but its so much more. His grandfather taught him that language is so important. That you don't throw words around. You sit with them, savour them, or just share them internally with yourself until they're right for the world to hear.
Kofi spent three years writing before he ever stepped into a proper studio. Three years. Not posting snippets, not building on platforms. Just writing. That's not normal in 2026. That's not how you build momentum, they say. For Kofi this is what truly helped him become a writer.
The "No Way" video splits Kofi into three versions of himself. Young Kofi, present Kofi, older Kofi. They're on a joyride across the city together, watching each other's journeys play out. The idea is that perspective isn't something you develop in isolation. It comes from witnessing your own timeline. Young Kofi was free because he didn't know what was coming. Present Kofi carries the weight of choices and consequences. Older Kofi has the distance to make sense of it all. All three in the car together - past, present and future. I guess one could say the point is that you need all three versions at once to understand where you actually are.
When we listen to the hook. "They wanna break my soul, why they wanna break my soul, they'll never break my soul." There's no wordplay. No layered meaning to decode. It rings of resonation because it's direct. That's what three years of writing produces. Not sophistication for its own sake, but the clarity that comes from knowing exactly what you mean and what you want to say.
Kofi Stone isn't a new artist. He's been doing this since before most people noticed UK hip-hop shifted. Twenty dates sold out. Glastonbury. Work alongside Loyle Carner, D Double E, Kojey Radical. A million monthly listeners built through consistency rather than algorithm capture. But "No Way" isn't about proving anything. It's about operating from a position where proof is unnecessary. The work already exists. The only question left is what comes next.
