July 9th. bLAck pARty drops The Last Dance.
This isn't just another album. It's the end of a trilogy he's been working on. Three albums about the whole cycle. Finding love. Being in it. Losing it. All the mess that comes with it.
His real name is Malik Flint. Arkansas to LA. Makes music that refuses to stay in one lane. You'll hear funk, R\&B, Afrobeats, hip-hop. Whatever the song needs.
He started behind the scenes. Producing for Kari Faux. Then Issa Rae heard his work and started using it on Insecure. Multiple placements. That opened doors. Childish Gambino. Atlanta. The good stuff.
But at some point, he stepped out front. Started telling his own stories. Mango. Endless Summer. Hummingbird. Each one deeper than the last.
I respect artists who know when to close a chapter. When to let something end properly instead of milking it forever. bLAck pARty gets that.
The Last Dance feels important. Like he's been building to this moment for years. The final word on this particular story.
You should probably listen to it.
